Check out the latest post by Indie Rock Cafe. Indie Rock Cafe rounded up their favorite new tracks from the mail bag for what they call “In Dee Mail Mix Tape.” Facts on File’s “Keep it Together” makes the list along with some nice words about the new single:

In Los Angeles, the indie pop/post punk band Facts on File released the title track, “Keep It Together”, of their debut album, released on April 13th. The single sounds like Devo meets the Talking Heads. We haven’t heard the full album, but look forward to doing so sometime soon.

Facts on File’s release party for the single is Wednesday, May 26 at Mountain Bar in Chinatown. Details are here. (Facebook event is here.)

Facts on File Release Debut EP & 7″ Record – “Keep it Together”

Facts on File announce the release of their debut 7” single, “Keep it Together,” combined with a digital EP of the same title. The single will be released on Tuesday, April 13 to digital distributors and select retail outlets. Facts on File are a Los Angeles based three-piece rock band that crafts songs that modernize 60’s garage rock rhythms with undertones of Talking Heads, The Cars, or even a synth-free Devo.

From Wiretap Music:

The title track is a warm organ/bass/drums thumper that matches a nonchalant Yo La Tengo rhythmic feel with a big Cars hook.

On the B side they produce a colder, more alienated tone, swapping jagged, overdriven guitar riffing for the organ…White’s baritone-falsetto voice is bound to draw comparisons to David Byrne’s, but fortunately for the Facts, White avoids affectation and mimicry and is able to carry the record with the perfect amount of quirkiness.

This new track, “Radio Pop Music”, was first envisioned in 2003 after the Martin Bashir documentary “Living with Michael Jackson” aired on ABC. The mix was completed in 2007 after the release of Paper Trail and will be included in the upcoming Somnambulants album (in progress). In honor of Michael Jackson’s memorial event, the track is being released early via iTunes and other digital distribution outlets. For a limited time, you can download Radio Pop Music for free.
